We decided to use this frame when doing the comparing and contrasting lesson of Loyalists and Patriots. We first read the article with our students. During the second read, as a class, we began to fill out the frame with information with the text. The best part of this frame is when you are filling out the contrasting section you are contrasting in regards to the same topic. It is the "with regards" idea that makes this frame so powerful.
We then had our students use the notes they placed on the writing frame from Roger Fisher to write their compare and contrast paper. This frame provided the scaffolding that our students needed in order to write a well written compare and contrast paper.
